Sometimes you or your family can run into difficulties with your emotional well-being, your mental health or your marriage. It can be anything from problems dealing with grief to on-the-job stress. When those problems arise, the CWBP Employee Assistance Program is here to help. Top


We cover all health-related counselling by psychologists and legitimate professional counsellors...

including such areas as…

  • Emotional and behavioural problems,
  • Marital or family problems,
  • Problems dealing with life changes, including grief and bereavement,
  • Career-related stress,
  • Diagnosis and treatment of learning problems,
  • Medical problems that have an emotional side, such as high blood pressure or pain control, in cooperation with your family doctor,
  • or coping with life-threatening illness, in cooperation with your family doctor.

You do not need a referral from your family doctor; you can choose a legitimate professional counselling service yourself. Top


The Program will reimburse 80 per cent of your paid receipts.

As of May 1 2010, you can claim up to $550 per person in any calendar year, which works out to a reimbursement of $440. The Employee Assistance Program claim form is available for download, or through the Plan Office or your local union. Top


Some services are not covered… but these are already covered under other plans or programs.

We do not cover services provided by the provincial government or a government agency, such as ICBC or the Workers’ Compensation Board.

We also do not cover services provided by the Construction Industry Rehabilitation Plan.

And the Employee Assistance Program does not cover services that are already covered under the Extended Health Care Plan, or provided by any agency established under the CMAW Council of Carpenters collective agreement. Top
